Job Summary
The Boilermaker / Maintenance Fabricator provides specialized technical engineering services to support mining infrastructure. The role is responsible for cutting, shaping, welding, assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing heavy metal structures—such as boilers, tanks, pressure vessels, chutes, hoppers, and conveyors—that are essential for power generation and daily plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Assembly:
Cut, shape, and weld steel and structural metal components to construct, modify, and repair industrial equipment.
Installation & Maintenance:
Install, maintain, and service boilers, tanks, pressure vessels, and other large structures holding liquids and gases.
Repairs & Upgrades:
Conduct routine and emergency repairs to ensure the safe, efficient operation of surface infrastructure and mechanical components.
Testing & Inspection:
Test completed installations, inspect for defects, leaks, and structural weaknesses, and perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
Power & Plant Support:
Maintain boilers and pressure vessels critical for steam/energy generation and support general mining plant operations.
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
Educational Background:
B.Sc., Diploma, or Level IV/TVET qualification in Boilermaking, Metal Fabrication, Welding & Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
A recognized Boilermaker, Welding, or Fabrication trade certificate
(additional welding/fabrication competency certifications are a strong advantage)

Work Experience
Minimum of
3 to 5 years
of relevant experience in boiler making, metal fabrication, welding, or mechanical maintenance.
Prior background in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, cement manufacturing, or similar industrial environments is highly desirable.
Required Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering, fabrication, and workshop drawings.
Strong practical skills in welding, cutting, grinding, fitting, and metal fabrication using SMAW/MMA, MIG/MAG, and/or TIG processes.
Competence with heavy industrial equipment (conveyors, crushers, mills, tanks, chutes, hoppers, pipework).
Sound knowledge of HS&E standards, hot-work procedures, working at heights, confined-space entry, and safe lifting operations.
Physical fitness for demanding remote site conditions, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined or elevated areas.
