Job Summary
The Plumber Technician ensures the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, piping, and mechanical utility systems within EMERGENCY facilities. The role implements preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, troubleshoots mechanical and hydraulic failures, and supports the safe, efficient functioning of water distribution, HVAC, medical gas, and wastewater systems in accordance with technical standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Servicing:
Install, repair, adjust, and service piping networks and mechanical devices such as pumps, HVAC systems, water heaters, boilers, fans, air compressors, filters, valves, and diesel engines.
System Modification & Fixtures:
Install and modify pipes, supports, valves, instrumentation, and sanitary fixtures (sinks, toilets) for water, gas, air, and other liquids or gases.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:
Develop and execute maintenance schedules, conduct periodic inspections, test systems for leaks or operational faults, and perform troubleshooting using proper drawings and tools.
Cross-Disciplinary Maintenance:
Maintain mechanical components across various utility networks, including firefighting systems, water treatment plants, diesel generators, boilers, thermal solar systems, medical gases, wastewater, and water distribution.
Reporting & Collaboration:
Maintain an updated database on plumbing works, write detailed action reports, collaborate with electricians, contractors, and other technical teams, and oversee junior workers or assistants.
Safety & Compliance:
Strictly adhere to health and safety standards, comply with building codes, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
Educational Background:
Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, Building Services, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
Work Experience
Proven hands-on experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water supply systems, drainage networks, pumps, boilers, compressors, and related mechanical equipment.
Language Proficiency:
Good command of written and spoken
English, Amharic, and Tigrinya

Required Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in Water Supply Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, and Civil/Mechanical building services.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
Familiarity with the safe operation of workshop machinery, maintenance tools, and testing equipment.
Basic to good computer literacy, including MS Office proficiency.
Good organizational skills, reliability, high attention to detail, and professional eagerness.
