Job Summary
The Junior Accountant supports the day-to-day financial and accounting operations of Fenot Associates. The role involves managing bookkeeping, processing payments, handling petty cash, ensuring tax compliance with Ethiopian regulations, performing bank reconciliations, and supporting project financial reporting and audits.
Key Responsibilities
Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate, up-to-date books of accounts.
Prepare payment vouchers, receipts, and verify supporting documentation.
Process supplier payments, staff advances, and expense reimbursements.
Manage petty cash funds and perform regular reconciliations.
Prepare and file statutory returns (VAT, withholding tax, income tax, and pension) in compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and Ministry of Revenue deadlines.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
Support payroll preparation and related deductions.
Assist in preparing periodic, project-based, and donor financial reports.
Maintain organized physical and digital financial records to support internal and external audits.
Perform occasional outdoor administrative and accounting tasks as assigned.
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
Educational Background:
BA Degree
in Accounting or Accounting and Finance.
Work Experience
0 to 1 year
of professional accounting experience (fresh graduates are welcome to apply).
Required Skills & Competencies
Beginner-level knowledge of accounting software (Peachtree, QuickBooks, or similar systems).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong attention to detail, integrity, and organizational skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Amharic.
