Job Summary
The Senior General Accountant is responsible for overseeing general ledger accounting, managing month-end and year-end closes, ensuring full compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, and utilizing manufacturing-focused ERP systems to optimize financial workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Prepare, review, and file all statutory tax returns (VAT, Withholding Tax, Payroll Tax, and Income Tax) in compliance with Ethiopian tax regulations.
Monitor accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), vendor invoicing, and cash flows.
Evaluate current accounting workflows and design process efficiencies to minimize financial risks and improve productivity.
Interface directly with revenue authorities, banks, and external regulatory bodies.
Leverage manufacturing-focused ERP systems for robust financial tracking and reporting.
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a recognized university or college.
Experience
At least five (5) years and above of relevant accounting experience.
(Note: Prior experience in a manufacturing industry is a strong plus).
Required Skills & Competencies
Deep proficiency in manufacturing-focused ERP systems and advanced financial software.
Thorough knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and statutory compliance filing.
Strong analytical, organizational, and risk-management abilities.
