Job Summary
The Passive Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting diesel generators, solar power systems, batteries, rectifiers, and grid infrastructure, performing electrical testing, monitoring site environmental conditions, and ensuring uninterrupted power and site reliability across assigned Tigray clusters.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and troubleshoot diesel generators, solar systems, batteries, rectifiers and grid power systems.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of telecom site electrical and power infrastructure.
Perform cable installation, grounding, power connectivity and electrical testing.
Monitor shelters, cabinets, cooling systems and environmental conditions.
Respond to power-related faults and restore site operations promptly.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, site reports and fault/restoration records.
Coordinate with field teams, supervisors and relevant client/NOC teams.
Ensure strict compliance with electrical and occupational safety requirements.
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education
BSc Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience in passive telecom infrastructure maintenance, power systems, or field engineering.
Required Skills & Competencies
Practical knowledge of diesel generators, solar power systems, power rectifiers, batteries, grounding, and site electrical infrastructure.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Willingness to travel and work under field conditions with safety-related certifications preferred.
