Job Summary

Safaricom Ethiopia is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join its Fintech operations team within the M-Pesa Technology department. The engineer will play a crucial role in improving, monitoring, and maintaining financial solutions applications to guarantee 99.999% system availability and high performance. Working alongside a dynamic team, the successful candidate will provide technical support, perform troubleshooting, and drive innovation to deliver exceptional user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure data and application availability of assigned systems, supporting financial solutions including M-PESA and its integrations.

Perform system and application monitoring, architecture reviews, optimization, incident handling, detailed root cause analysis, and problem management.

Participate in the design, testing, and implementation of new products, services, functionalities, upgrades, and M-PESA roadmap delivery.

Implement DevOps technologies, processes, and containerization while collaborating with internal and external technical teams for efficient issue resolution.

Maintain a technical knowledge base, prepare accurate system performance reports, and execute regular service improvements aligned with availability targets.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development, or a related subject.

Experience

2 years of work experience as an engineer in a telecommunications or financial services environment.

Required Skills

Technical Skills:

Extensive knowledge of networking and system administration (Unix/Linux), software development skills in Java, Python, and AngularJS, database management proficiency, ITIL Service Operations processes, and Agile/Scrum methodology.
