Job Summary

The Assistant Main Cashier is responsible for supporting cash management and payment operations by preparing and disbursing cheques, payment instruments, and cash in accordance with approved policies and procedures. The position also maintains accurate cash records, performs reconciliations, monitors cash flows, and ensures that adequate petty cash is available for operational requirements.

About the Job

Prepare periodic payment schedules for the attention and approval of the Treasury Accountant.

Follow up with the Treasury Accountant to ensure prompt approval of payments and endorsement of payment instruments.

Notify requesting parties when payment instruments are ready for collection.

Disburse cash and payment instruments to requesting parties.

Receive cash and payment instrument retirements in accordance with defined policies and procedures.

Perform periodic reconciliation of disbursed payments against cash inflows.

Ensure proper handling of cash and other payment instruments, including cheques, transfer letters, expense cards, and related instruments.

Prepare daily reconciled cash transaction positions.

Post all payment transactions to SAP or coordinate with the Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant to ensure timely posting of all payments.

Monitor and analyze periodic cash flows to identify business performance trends, including working capital ratios.

Provide recommendations to the Team Lead, Plant Treasury Operations.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all activities and transactions.

Prepare periodic reports on cash management and disbursement activities.

Ensure that petty cash remains adequate for operational purposes.

Perform other duties assigned by the Treasury Manager.

Educational Requirements

TVET Level II or Level III in

Accounting, Business Management, Cost Accounting, Finance Management

, or a related field of study.

Experience

Relevant work experience as specified in the vacancy announcement:

4/2 years

Required Skills and Competencies

Good knowledge of cash handling and payment procedures.

Ability to prepare and reconcile cash transaction records accurately.

Good understanding of cheques, payment instruments, and related financial documentation.

Ability to maintain accurate financial and transaction records.

Good numerical and analytical skills.

Knowledge of SAP or other financial systems is an advantage.

Good communication and coordination skills.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

High level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality when handling cash and financial documents.

Ability to work under pressure and meet payment and reporting deadlines.
