Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled
Senior Mechanic
responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling vehicles, heavy trucks, construction equipment, and other mechanical machinery. The Senior Mechanic will also supervise junior mechanics and ensure that all maintenance and repair activities are performed safely, efficiently, and according to required technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose mechanical problems in vehicles, trucks, heavy equipment, and machinery.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on company vehicles and equipment.
Repair and overhaul engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, suspension, steering, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components.
Inspect vehicles and machinery to identify faults, wear, and maintenance requirements.
Perform regular preventive-maintenance inspections and prepare maintenance schedules.
Test vehicles and equipment after repair to ensure safe and proper operation.
Supervise and guide junior mechanics and other workshop staff.
Assign repair and maintenance tasks and monitor the quality of completed work.
Identify required spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, spare-parts consumption, and equipment history.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.
Follow company safety procedures and ensure the proper use of PPE.
Support emergency breakdown and roadside repair activities when required.
Coordinate with the Transport, Procurement, and Finance teams regarding maintenance requirements and spare parts.
Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualification and Experience
Diploma/Level IV or Degree in
Automotive Mechanics, General Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering
, or a related field.
Minimum
5 years of relevant hands-on experience
in vehicle and machinery maintenance and repair.
Experience with
heavy trucks, Trucker or commercial vehicles
is highly desirable.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, suspension, and steering systems.
Ability to use mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to supervise, train, and guide junior mechanics.
Good communication, teamwork, and reporting skills.
Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency breakdowns.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
Ability to diagnose mechanical faults accurately and complete repairs efficiently.
Good knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and equipment servicing schedules.
Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation.
