Job Summary
The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, processing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and supporting effective financial management and control within the organization. The role ensures compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, statutory requirements, and supports management in making informed financial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and financial documentation.
Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, including income, expenses, payments, and receipts.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Prepare and review bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly.
Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure timely processing and collection.
Process invoices, payment requests, receipts, and other financial documents.
Assist with payroll preparation and ensure accurate salary-related calculations and deductions.
Monitor cash flow and provide regular updates to management.
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis as required.
Ensure proper documentation and approval of all financial transactions.
Maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, expenses, and other financial activities.
Support internal and external audits by providing required financial records and explanations.
Ensure compliance with applicable tax, pension, and other statutory financial obligations.
Monitor expenditure and ensure spending is within approved budgets.
Identify financial discrepancies, irregularities, or control weaknesses and report them promptly.
Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information.
Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor''s degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualification or relevant certification (e.g., ICAN/ACCA) is an added advantage.
Minimum of 3 years'' relevant accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial controls.
Good knowledge of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
