Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and proactive female Import Officer with specialized experience in vehicle importation. In this role, you will manage end-to-end import operations, oversee customs clearance processes, ensure full compliance with national trade regulations and duty frameworks, and coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and logistics partners to guarantee the timely delivery of vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Import Documentation & Processing:
Prepare, review, and process all import-related documentation, including Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and Import Declarations for vehicle shipments.
Customs Clearance & Compliance:
Coordinate directly with customs authorities and clearing agents to ensure smooth vehicle clearance and strict adherence to import laws, tariffs, tax valuations, and duty regulations.
Logistics & Freight Coordination:
Work closely with international vehicle suppliers, shipping lines, port authorities, and local transport carriers to monitor vessel schedules and track shipments from origin to port of entry.
Cost Management & Bank Processes:
Manage Letter of Credit (LC) opening, bank document processing, foreign currency allocations, and freight payments while tracking landing costs and import expenses.
Inspection & Vehicle Receipt:
Coordinate pre-shipment inspections, handle port inspection documentation, and oversee the physical verification and handover of vehicles upon arrival at company yards.
Record Keeping & Reporting:
Maintain structured digital and physical files for all import records, track shipment milestones, and prepare periodic import tracking reports for management.
Requirements & Qualifications
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, International Trade, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum 2–4 years of direct professional experience managing import procedures, specifically focused on automotive and vehicle importation.

Regulatory Knowledge:
Deep understanding of national customs regulations, import tariffs, customs valuation procedures, and automotive import policies.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel for cost tracking), customs portal systems, and ERP/logistics management software.
Soft Skills:
Excellent negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle high-pressure logistics timelines effectively.
Language Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Amharic.
