IT Officer

Requirnment

The IT Officer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the IT infrastructure across Pharo Assosa & Homosha Schools. The role ensures high availability of e-learning computer labs, provides comprehensive hardware and software troubleshooting (with a strong emphasis on printers, copiers, and basic networking), manages IT asset inventories, supports STEAM educational initiatives, and assists the education team with data retrieval and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • IT Equipment & Maintenance

Install, maintain, and repair printers, photocopy machines, scanners, and computers.

Perform routine preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and service disruptions.

Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across desktops, laptops, and peripherals.

  • Networking, Connectivity & Helpdesk Support

Set up, manage, and troubleshoot LAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity across classrooms, offices, and computer labs.

Provide day-to-day helpdesk support to teachers, administrative staff, and students.

Manage IT asset inventory, coordinate vendor repairs, and enforce data backups, antivirus protection, and basic cybersecurity.

  • Data Retrieval & Educational Tech Support

Systematically retrieve performance, attendance, or progress data from internal systems and generate clear, accurate periodic summaries for school management.

Support STEAM activities, educational technology tools, robotics programs, and computer lab initiatives.

Willingness to teach basic computer skills, digital literacy, or introductory technology subjects to students and staff.

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

Educational Background:

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Work Experience

2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in IT support, focusing on printers, copiers, computer maintenance, and networking.

Preferred Background:

Prior experience working in a school or institutional environment is a distinct advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Expertise:

Strong troubleshooting skills in hardware, software, and networking; hands-on experience with Linux and UNIX operating systems (system administration, command-line utilities, shell scripting, and file system management).

Core Competencies:

Analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-users, and high attention to detail.

Mobility & Flexibility:

Willingness to travel and provide on-site IT support across multiple locations, including Pharo Assosa School and Homosha Boarding School.
