Stakeholder Engagement, Policy, and Knowledge Translation Specialist

to join our Soil and Land Health Team.

In this key consultancy role, you will lead the bridge between scientific research and actionable policy across Africa. Working under the NORAD-funded

Establishing an Ecosystem of Soil Data-Driven Services Initiative

, you will translate complex technical soil data into accessible knowledge products, strategic policy frameworks, and high-impact stakeholder dialogues that drive sustainable food systems and climate resilience.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation

Lead Participatory Processes:

Design, facilitate, and oversee multi-stakeholder dialogues, national consultations, and workshops to co-develop soil health priorities, frameworks, and data use cases.

Stakeholder Mapping & Coalition Building:

Conduct stakeholder mapping and build key partnerships across national governments, research institutions, regional bodies, and development partners.

Policy Advocacy & Institutional Collaboration

Drive Policy Influence:

Support policy alignment with key regional and continental frameworks, including the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Action Plan (AFSH) and the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

Strategic Partnerships:

Strengthen ongoing collaboration with AUDA-NEPAD, the African Union Commission, CGIAR centers, and international initiatives (UNCCD, UNFCCC, UN Food Systems Summit).

Technical Working Groups:

Provide strategic guidance and coordination for the Soil Health Monitoring Task Force and related technical working groups.

Knowledge Translation & Quality Assurance

Evidence Translation:

Translate technical soil data into actionable knowledge products, including policy briefs, guidance documents, technical briefs, and training materials tailored for decision-makers.

Content Quality Control:

Collaborate with technical specialists to ensure all project outputs are clear, policy-relevant, and tailored for practical implementation.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

Master’s degree or higher in Agricultural Policy, Environmental Policy, Natural Resource Management, Soil Science, Food Systems, Climate Policy, International Development, or a related field.

Professional Experience:

Minimum of 8 years of professional experience operating at the intersection of science, policy, and international development.

Stakeholder Engagement Expertise:

Demonstrated track record in multi-stakeholder facilitation, consensus-building, consultation design, and stakeholder mapping.

Policy Framework Knowledge:

Deep understanding of African agricultural policy landscapes (CAADP, AFSH) as well as global environmental processes (UNFCCC, UNCCD).

Strategic Partnerships:

Proven success in building partnerships with high-level institutional actors, including AUDA-NEPAD, the African Union Commission, and CGIAR entities.
