Job Summary
On behalf of our clients we are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior HR Manager to lead the HR function for our client’s operations in Ethiopia. The role will work closely with management to support business objectives, strengthen people practices, develop talent, and ensure compliance with Ethiopian labor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR & Business Partnership
Align HR strategies and initiatives with business priorities
Advise management on workforce planning, organizational development, and change management
Drive employee engagement, retention, and HR policy development
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Lead end-to-end recruitment for professional, technical, and operational positions
Develop effective talent sourcing strategies and oversee onboarding
Support workforce and succession planning initiatives
Employee Relations & Compliance
Manage grievances, disciplinary matters, employee relations, and conflict resolution
Ensure compliance with Ethiopian labor laws and employment regulations
Advise managers on employee matters and HR-related risks
HR Operations & Compensation
Oversee compensation, benefits, payroll coordination, HR records, contracts, and employee lifecycle processes
Manage HR reporting and provide workforce insights to management
Oversee expatriate immigration processes, including work permits, visas, residence permits, and renewals
Liaise with government authorities and external service providers
Performance & Talent Management
Lead performance reviews and development planning
Identify training needs and coordinate learning initiatives
Support leadership development, talent management, and a culture of continuous improvement
Requirements & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology, Law, or a related field
Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience, including managerial experience
Strong knowledge of Ethiopian labor legislation, payroll, taxation, pensions, and employee benefits
Strong English communication skills (C1 level)
Good proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Experience in industrial or operational environments, preferably with shift-based operations and workforce rostering, and exposure to international or multicultural organizations.
Experience managing expatriates and immigration processes is a strong advantage
Highly proactive, hands-on, and solution-oriented, with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
Willingness to travel outside Addis Ababa and work on-site as required.
