Logistics Business developer/Sales

Job Summary

The Business Developer is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, acquiring clients, maintaining customer relationships, and increasing revenue through the promotion and sale of logistics services. The role involves developing strategic partnerships, understanding customer supply chain needs, and collaborating with operations teams to deliver effective logistics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

Identify and pursue new business opportunities in transportation, freight forwarding, warehousing, customs clearance, and supply chain services.

Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.

Generate leads through networking, referrals, cold calling, and market research.

Prepare and deliver sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.

Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements.

Client Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers.

Understand client logistics requirements and provide tailored solutions.

Conduct regular client visits and business reviews.

Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention.

Market Research and Analysis

Monitor industry trends, competitors, and market opportunities.

Identify emerging sectors and customers that require logistics services.

Analyze market data and provide recommendations to management.

Tender and Proposal Management

Identify relevant tenders and business opportunities.

Prepare quotations, bids, and commercial proposals.

Coordinate with internal departments to ensure competitive and accurate submissions.

Reporting and Performance Monitoring

Maintain an updated sales pipeline database.

Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports.

Track sales performance against targets and KPIs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, or related field.

Professional certifications in Sales, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management are an advantage.

Experience

3-5 years of business development or sales experience, preferably in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, or supply chain industries.

Proven track record of achieving sales and revenue targets.

Required Skills

Knowledge of logistics, transportation, freight, warehousing, and supply chain operations.

Proposal writing and presentation skills.

Relationship-building and networking abilities.
