Job Summary
The Field Driver safely operates electric 4WD off-road vehicles across diverse regions of Ethiopia to support the Ethiopian Diabetes Association''s nationwide NCD care programs, outreach missions, and humanitarian projects. Operating across rugged terrains and remote rural roads, the role ensures secure transport for field teams, meticulous vehicle maintenance, and proper management of electric vehicle charging schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Safe Transportation:
Safely operate electric 4WD off-road vehicles across all regions of Ethiopia, navigating challenging terrains and remote rural routes.
Vehicle Maintenance & Charging:
Conduct daily pre-trip safety checks, maintain vehicle cleanliness, manage EV charging schedules in the field, and perform basic mechanical troubleshooting.
Logbook & Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logbooks, recording mileage, specific routes, fuel use, and charging history.
Compliance & Security:
Strictly adhere to Ethiopian traffic laws, organizational security protocols, and safety guidelines.
Field Support:
Assist project teams with loading and unloading cargo and foster respectful, culturally sensitive interactions with diverse local communities.
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education
Minimum completion of Grade 12 education.
Driving License:
Valid Ethiopian driving license (Minimum 3rd Degree or equivalent category appropriate for 4WD vehicles) with a clean driving record.
Experience
At least 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably within an NGO or humanitarian organization.
(Proven expertise in 4WD off-road driving and experience with electric vehicles/EVs are strong advantages).
Language Proficiency:
Fluency in Amharic is required; knowledge of additional Ethiopian languages (e.g., Afaan Oromoo, Tigrinya, Somali, Sidama) is highly valued.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong geographical knowledge of Ethiopia''s regional routes and road networks.
Cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal communication skills.
