Job Summary

The EV Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, repairing, and servicing electric vehicles and their electrical and electronic systems. The role requires practical knowledge of EV technology, high-voltage battery systems, electric motors, charging systems, vehicle diagnostics, and electrical safety procedures. The ideal candidate should be able to identify faults accurately and perform repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.

About the Job

Diagnose, maintain, and repair electric vehicles and their electrical and electronic systems.

Inspect and troubleshoot high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.

Diagnose and maintain EV battery packs, battery management systems (BMS), and related components.

Inspect and troubleshoot electric motors, motor controllers, inverters, converters, and other EV powertrain components.

Use diagnostic scanners and specialized EV diagnostic equipment to identify faults and interpret error codes.

Perform electrical tests using multimeters, insulation testers, and other appropriate testing equipment.

Inspect and repair vehicle wiring, connectors, fuses, relays, sensors, and control modules.

Diagnose and repair EV charging systems, charging ports, and related electrical components.

Carry out preventive maintenance and routine inspections on electric vehicles.

Monitor battery performance, charging behavior, and overall vehicle electrical system condition.

Identify and troubleshoot faults in electronic control units (ECUs), sensors, and communication systems.

Follow proper procedures when working with high-voltage systems and ensure electrical safety at all times.

Maintain accurate records of inspections, diagnostic results, repairs, and parts used.

Keep diagnostic tools, workshop equipment, and work areas clean and properly maintained.

Work closely with other technicians and supervisors to resolve complex vehicle faults.

Perform other related EV maintenance and repair duties assigned by management.

Educational Requirements

Diploma, TVET Level III/IV, or equivalent qualification in Automotive Technology, Automotive Electricity, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.

Experience

Minimum of

2+ years of relevant work experience

as an EV Technician, Auto Electrician, Automotive Technician, or in a related position.

Practical experience working with electric or hybrid vehicles is highly desirable.

Required Skills and Competencies

Good knowledge of electric vehicle electrical and electronic systems.

Understanding of high-voltage battery systems and battery management systems (BMS).

Knowledge of electric motors, inverters, converters, and EV powertrain systems.

Ability to use automotive diagnostic scanners and electrical testing equipment.

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical circuits.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of EV charging systems and charging equipment.

Good understanding of electrical and high-voltage safety procedures.

Good attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.

Good communication and reporting skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet service deadlines.
