Job Summary
Responsible for serving as the frontline community-level anchor for the LEVEL UP project, driving mobilization, participatory targeting, group formation, and gender-transformative engagement across Arero, Yabello, and Gomole woredas. The role bridges communities, local structures, and the project team to ensure pastoralist and agro-pastoralist women and female youth actively participate in poultry, irrigation-based horticulture, and small-ruminant value chains.
Key Responsibilities
Lead community sensitization and mobilization at the kebele level to secure the engagement of communities, customary (Gadaa) and religious leaders, and local government.
Facilitate participatory, transparent identification and selection of women and female youth participants using agreed criteria.
Organize and register participants into producer groups, cooperatives, and enterprises across poultry, horticulture, and small-ruminant value chains.
Support the formation and strengthening of Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) and facilitate basic group governance.
Facilitate household-level engagement, couples'' dialogue, and Social Analysis and Action (SAA) platforms to promote joint decision-making and equitable gender norms.
Support the establishment of demonstration sites, market-based nutrition campaigns, and linkages with input suppliers, buyers, and financial service providers.
Operate community feedback, complaints, and accountability mechanisms (CFM), record safeguarding concerns, and collect accurate field monitoring data.
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education
Diploma or BSc/BA in Rural Development, Agricultural Extension, Sociology, Gender Studies, Community Development, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience for Diploma holders or 2 years for Degree holders in community facilitation, mobilization, or field implementation (residency in or strong familiarity with the assigned woreda is required).
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail.
Fluency in Afaan Oromo is essential; Amharic is an advantage.
