Job Summary

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer coordinates data collection, compilation, and analysis to track conservation programs, monitor project progress, and support impact measurement. Operating within the park management unit, the role manages the park''s data pipeline, ensures data integrity across systems like EarthRanger and Survey123, and provides actionable insights to drive strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Translate strategic targets into monitoring metrics and configure departmental data collection workflows.

Manage network platforms like EarthRanger and Survey123, running routine integrity checks and preparing monthly/periodic returns.

Track progress against monitoring work plans and coordinate community participatory M&E and reflective practice sessions.

Prepare data-based analyses, slides, and dashboards for mid-year reviews and executive discussions.

Adhere to health, safety, environmental, and departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education

University degree in conservation, biology, statistics, data science, social sciences, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Experience

Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, data management, or conservation science

(experience in a protected area or field-based operation is an advantage)

.

Language Proficiency:

Full professional competency in English and the national language (written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is an added value.

Required Skills & Competencies

Practical competence with data collection and management systems (EarthRanger, Survey123, SAGE, SIMBA, or comparable platforms).

Strong capacity-building, interpersonal, methodical, and cross-functional training abilities.

Analytical and critical thinking skills, analysis and compare department budget with financial budget, and monitoring, evaluation & learning.
