CIFA is an international NGO with over 40 years of experience in protecting vulnerable children and youth. Active in Ethiopia for more than 20 years, CIFA promotes access to quality education, gender equality, women''s economic empowerment, and inclusive livelihoods. Through its integrated approach, CIFA has developed strong expertise in solid waste management and circular economy initiatives, linking environmental sustainability with socio-economic inclusion. CIFA currently operates in Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa City Administration, Amhara (South Wollo), Harari, and Oromia Region.

Job Summary

In the framework of the SECOND LIFE project, the Tutor will support the effective implementation of project activities in Addis Ababa, working closely with TVET centers, project partners, and beneficiaries. The role combines student support, training coordination, and inclusion-focused activities, ensuring high-quality delivery of vocational training and active engagement of beneficiaries. The Second Life project aims to strengthen solid waste management (SWM), circular economy approaches, and socio-economic inclusion through coordinated technical, institutional, and community-based actions in Addis Ababa. The project is implemented through a multi-disciplinary team and in close coordination with the Addis Ababa City Administration, local authorities, and partners. CIFA ETS intends to recruit a Tutor in Addis Ababa under the supervision of the Project Coordinator.

Duration Contract: Until December 2027, renewable subject to performance and project needs, contract with a 60-day probation period and the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct support and tutoring to students (beneficiaries) enrolled in TVET courses.

Monitor students and teachers progress and conduct regular follow-up sessions to prevent drop-outs and ensure high engagement.

Provide psychological support and guidance to students to address barriers to learning and personal development.

Collaborate closely with Italian trainers to deliver Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions.

Act as a technical focal point for local teachers to ensure the "cascade training" model is implemented correctly.

Supervise the quality of teaching delivered by local instructors to ensure it aligns with the standards set by the international trainers.

Assist project partners in the creation, revision, and validation of TVET curricula as planned in the project document.

Support partners in the day-to-day operational activities within the TVET centers to ensure smooth implementation.

Supervise activities related to inclusive teaching and disability-friendly pedagogical approaches.

In collaboration with the Project Coordinator, oversee the creation/improvement of accessible infrastructure within the TVET centers.

Ensure that all TVET-related activities (training, workshops, and physical upgrades) meet accessibility and inclusivity standards.

Any other duties requested by the management related to the project implementation and Organization''s needs not listed here.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor''s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Development Studies, or related fields.

A Master''s degree in a relevant field is considered an asset.

At least 3 years of relevant experience in education, TVET, or training projects.

Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working with youth and vulnerable groups.

Experience in Training of Trainers (ToT) or capacity building is an asset.

Previous experience with TVET institutions or development projects is highly desirable.

Experience in inclusive education or social support is an asset.

Experience in solid waste management or green skills is an advantage.

Experience in donor-funded projects (EU/AICS) is an asset.

Previous experience in education, specifically within the TVET system, or socio-economic inclusion projects is highly desirable.

Fluency in English is required.

Knowledge of Amharic and Afan Oromo is mandatory.

Good knowledge of MS Office.

Willingness to be based in Addis Ababa and travel locally if needed.
