Exigence

The Role

The Stevedore Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating stevedoring activities to ensure cargo loading and discharge operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with approved stowage plans, HSE standards, and port regulations. The role provides direct oversight of stevedore gangs, ensures effective manpower deployment, and serves as the operational link between vessel officers and terminal management.

Senior Operations Manager

Responsibilities

Supervise daily stevedoring operations including cargo loading, discharge, lashing, unlashing, and tallying activities.

Computation and preparation of labour payments input information.

Enforce strict compliance with HSE policies, PPE usage, toolbox talks, and safe work procedures.

Oversee the labour operations on the vessels, giving safety related instructions, guides and advise to forestall minor and major accidents/incidents.

Work in conjunction with the shipping agents to meet the expected time of departure ETD target.

Take proper records of vessels operation analysis in regarding to IDLE TIME at berth.

Control the labour work force onboard and ashore and guide them against overloading of nets/slings to avoid accident and operational hazard.

Keep/report detailed operational events of the vessels regarding commencement and close of operation, number of manpower utilization, idle time and other related information.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Port Operations, Maritime Studies or related field.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in stevedoring or port operations, logistics planning, or maritime documentation.

Ability to supervise stevedores, assign gangs, and manage shifts.

Working knowledge of HSE standards, Experience enforcing PPE usage, toolbox talks, and incident reporting

Strong knowledge of loading, offloading, lashing, tallying.

Strong knowledge of cargo handling procedures and stevedoring operations.

Basic understanding of vessel stowage plans and cargo documentation.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite and operational documentation tools.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
