Job Summary
Responsible for providing technical expertise in Solid Waste Management (SWM) and operational project management support for the AICS-funded "SECOND LIFE" Project. The role combines advanced industrial waste management and circular economy oversight with strong project management capacities, ensuring effective implementation across Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa in collaboration with municipal authorities, TVET institutions, and Industrial Parks.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
Provide technical guidance on industrial SWM, circular economy interventions, and resource recovery within Industrial Parks and TVET institutions.
Project Management Support:
Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and monitoring activities against workplans, budgets, and project indicators, including drafting technical specifications for procurement.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Maintain regular liaison with government ministries (such as MoLS), municipal authorities, the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC), private sector actors, and project partners.
Monitoring & Reporting:
Contribute to narrative and technical reports, monitor project indicators, document best practices, and prepare briefing notes.
Capacity Building:
Deliver or coordinate technical training on SWM, mentor project staff, and support institutional capacity development for TVETs and industrial facilities.
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education
Bachelor''s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline (a Master’s degree in SWM, Environmental Management, Circular Economy, or Sustainable Development is an asset).
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience, including at least 3 years in solid waste management, industrial waste management, or circular economy within donor-funded development projects.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of industrial SWM systems, circular economy principles, and national environmental legislation.
Fluent in written and spoken English, with mandatory proficiency in Amharic.
