Solar Cell Process Technician at BGE (Nigeria) Solar FZE

Exigence

Position Overview

We are seeking detail-oriented and technical

Solar Cell Process Technicians

to join our manufacturing operations. In this hands-on role, you will monitor, fine-tune, and maintain the chemical, thermal, and deposition processes across our high-volume silicon solar cell production lines—ensuring high cell conversion efficiency, optimal yield, and zero defect rates.

Key Responsibilities

Process Monitoring & Equipment Operation:

Oversee automated silicon cell production equipment across core fabrication stages: chemical texturing/alkali etching, phosphorus/boron diffusion, PECVD anti-reflective coating, laser contact opening (LCO), metallization screen printing, and firing furnaces.

Process Stability & Control:

Monitor real-time parameters (temperatures, gas flows, chemical concentrations, deposition rates) using Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools to maintain target yields and prevent batch deviations.

Quality & Defect Analysis:

Perform routine quality checks using EL (Electroluminescence) imaging, IV curve testing, and optical measurement equipment to detect micro-cracks, surface defects, or color variations.

First-Line Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM), chemical bath replacements, screen changes, and basic mechanical/electronic troubleshooting when alarms or process stoppages occur.

Safety & Cleanroom Compliance:

Strictly adhere to cleanroom standards (Class 1,000/10,000) and follow chemical safety protocols for handling hazardous production materials (eg, HF, silane, acids, pastes).

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

OND, HND, or B.Sc / B.Eng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

1–3+ years of experience in solar cell manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, or advanced automated industrial manufacturing.

Technical Skills:

Good understanding of silicon wafer processing or automated machine operations.

Hands-on familiarity with measurement instruments (calipers, multimeters) and computer literacy (MS Excel, Manufacturing Execution Systems / MES).

Ability to follow technical SOPs and read basic equipment control interfaces.

Work Conditions:

Ability to work in full cleanroom apparel ("bunny suits"), stand for long periods, lift equipment up to 20 kg, and work 12-hour rotating shifts.
