Senior Field Coordinator - 80% Travel at Pula

المتطلبات

Why This Role Matters:

The Field Operations team delivers seasonal execution of farmer sensitization, registration, profiling/data services, client training, and Crop Cutting Experiments (CCE) — the critical yield measurement surveys that underpin index-based insurance payouts and product validation.

As Senior Field Coordinator, you will be the regional lead responsible for hands-on delivery in your assigned area. Reporting to the Field Associate Manager, you will directly supervise Field Coordinators/Supervisors and Field Agents/Enumerators, ensuring flawless protocol adherence, high data quality, timely execution, and strong stakeholder relationships in remote rural settings.

You will spend the majority of your time in the field — conducting spot checks, back-checks (minimum 20% of samples), audits, on-site coaching, troubleshooting, and direct quality enforcement. Your work directly determines whether accurate, verifiable yield and registration data reaches the server on time, enabling reliable insurance payouts and client trust.

This is not a desk-based supervisory role — it is intensive, field-heavy leadership where your presence, rigor, and ability to motivate teams under real-world constraints make the difference between success and rework.

What You’ll Be Doing

Team Management & Development Participate in recruitment, selection, onboarding, and performance management of Field Coordinators/Supervisors and Field Agents/Enumerators. Assign tasks, schedule activities, coach, counsel, motivate, and apply discipline when necessary. Deliver practical training on protocols, digital tools (e.g., Mavuno app), data quality standards, farmer engagement, and field safety. Identify high performers and transparently report non-performing staff. Maintain clear, consistent communication up and down the chain.

Project & Activity Oversight Lead farmer sensitization, awareness, registration, profiling, and data collection campaigns. Supervise and coordinate all activities of Field Coordinators/Supervisors and Field Agents/Enumerators. Manage execution of farmer registration and profiling using Mavuno (ensuring GPS accuracy, photo capture, server syncing). Lead Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) — plot sampling, measurements, weighing, and yield data integrity. Support yield index insurance payout processes (field verification, issue resolution) when required. Assist with client training, farmer mobilization, workshops, and product launches.

Quality Assurance & Field Monitoring Enforce 100% adherence to Pula’s data collection protocols, guidelines, and quality standards across the team. Conduct frequent field visits for monitoring, audit checks, back-checks (at least 20% of samples), spot checks, on-site coaching/support, and rapid issue diagnosis. Review completed forms, questionnaires, and polygons for accuracy, completeness, and compliance (including mandatory image syncing to server). Ensure all work is submitted timely to data quality teams and clients. Perform internal data audits and support quality control processes. Promptly escalate field challenges, access issues, technical problems, or contextual risks.

Stakeholder & Operational Coordination Coordinate daily with client field staff, insurance auditors, government extension agents/officials, and local partners. Handle and resolve farmer/stakeholder complaints quickly and professionally. Maintain and troubleshoot data collection equipment (smartphones, tablets, GPS devices). Assist in budget setting, expense tracking/recording, and reconciliation per organizational guidelines. Escalate critical field issues to management and join diagnostic visits when required.

Reporting & Compliance Prepare and submit regular, accurate reports on progress (registrations completed, CCEs conducted, data quality KPIs), challenges, and achievements. Uphold Pula’s values, mission, and ethical standards in all activities. Prevent misinformation, unrealistic promises, or ethical breaches in the field. Monitor and address any misconduct or protocol violations immediately.

Additional Responsibilities Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or management that are consistent with the role and organizational priorities.

The Right Candidate Will Have

3–5+ years of progressive experience in field-based supervision of enumerator/supervisor teams in agriculture, rural data collection, insurance, or development programs.

Proven track record leading farmer registration, profiling, yield measurement (Crop Cutting Experiments), and digital data collection at regional scale.

Strong hands-on quality assurance skills — experienced in conducting spot checks, back-checks, audits, and real-time issue resolution in remote areas.

Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and hold field teams accountable under tight seasonal deadlines and challenging conditions.

Excellent field logistics, problem-solving, and communication skills in low-connectivity, rural environments.

Comfortable with extensive rural travel, long field days, and working “on the go” (managing calls/emails despite limited power/network).

Intermediate Excel and digital tool proficiency (advantage).
