JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a responsible and safety-conscious Road Safety Officer to support Fleet Operations by monitoring drivers and vehicles, promoting safe driving practices, ability to facilitate effective communication between managers and drivers in both English and Hausa and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations and company policies. The role requires frequent travel to monitor drivers on transit, conduct safety checks, follow up on road incidents, maintain safety records, and provide guidance to drivers. The ideal candidate should be observant, firm, organized, and knowledgeable in road safety, traffic regulations, defensive driving, and basic vehicle safety. Flexibility to work extended hours when required is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise cargo lashing operations at the terminal to ensure safety and compliance with procedures.
Monitor and enforce driver discipline, safety standards, and compliance within the truck fleet.
Facilitate effective communication in English and Hausa between managers and drivers.
Prepare and maintain Excel-based reports on fleet activities, driver compliance, and safety matters for management review.
Carry out routine inspections to ensure company vehicles are safe and fit for daily operations.
Monitor drivers to ensure compliance with Traffic laws and company road safety policies.
Identify Unsafe driving practices and recommend corrective actions.
Monitor driver behavior and recommend measures to improve compliance and overall performance.
Identify and promptly report any driver engaging in illegal activities, unauthorized operations, or conduct contrary to assigned duties and company policies.
REQUIREMENTS
OND, HND, or B.Sc. in a relevant field.
Minimum of 3 years'' experience in road safety, fleet operations, transport, or a related role.
Strong knowledge of road safety regulations, traffic rules, and defensive driving.
Safety certification is an added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting.
Ability to communicate effectively in English and Hausa.
Willingness to travel frequently and work extended hours when required.
