Key Responsibilities
Lead the research, formulation, development, testing, and launch of new home care and personal care products.
Formulate and optimise existing products to improve quality, performance, cost-effectiveness, and product stability.
Identify and evaluate suitable raw materials, including locally sourced alternatives, to support product quality and cost efficiency.
Ensure product formulations, testing, documentation, and registration processes comply with applicable NAFDAC and SON standards.
Coordinate product scale-up from laboratory formulation to commercial production, ensuring consistency and quality.
Conduct product performance, stability, compatibility, and quality tests.
Collaborate with Marketing, Quality Assurance, Production, and Supply Chain teams to align product development with business objectives and market needs.
Monitor industry trends, consumer preferences, new technologies, and emerging raw materials to identify product development opportunities.
Lead, mentor, and support junior R&D team members to ensure effective execution of research and development activities.
Maintain accurate records of formulations, test results, product specifications, and development processes.
Requirements
Bachelor''s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years'' experience in research and development, formulation, and product development within the home care and/or personal care industry.
Proven experience developing and successfully launching products from concept to commercial production.
Strong knowledge of formulation chemistry, surfactants, emulsions, preservatives, fragrances, and other relevant raw materials.
Practical experience with product testing, stability assessment, quality optimisation, and production scale-up.
Familiarity with NAFDAC and SON regulatory requirements and product registration processes.
Knowledge of local raw material sourcing, supplier evaluation, and cost optimisation.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and leadership skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple product development projects.
