Role Description:
The Phonics Teacher position is a full-time, on-site role based in Oshogbo.
The selected candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging phonics lessons that promote early literacy development, which includes reading, spelling, and pronunciation.
Daily responsibilities encompass the preparation of lesson materials, instruction of phonics to both small groups and entire classes, assessment of student progress, and provision of targeted support to learners with diverse abilities.
Additionally, this role entails maintaining accurate records, collaborating with fellow educators and school staff, communicating regularly with parents and caregivers, and contributing to school-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing language and literacy outcomes.
The Phonics Teacher is expected to uphold the school’s values while fostering a supportive, safe, and motivating classroom environment.
Qualifications
A solid foundation in Education and Teaching, with practical experience in early literacy or phonics instruction.
Proficiency in designing effective lesson plans tailored to various learning levels and needs.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, colleagues, and parents.
Experience in training or mentoring learners to build confidence and promote independent learning skills.
A relevant teaching qualification or degree in Education or a related discipline.
Familiarity with the British Curriculum and phonics programs or methodologies.
Capacity to manage classrooms positively, employing age-appropriate teaching strategies and integrating educational resources and technology.
