CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people frequently (e.g. once a week or more)

or

intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work on country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

Risk and Compliance:

The role holder is required to carry out the duties in accordance with the SCI Fraud, Bribery, and Corruption policy and code of conduct. The key responsibilities include understanding and complying with the SCI policies and procedures, not committing any act of fraud, bribery, or corruption, understanding risks in their area/role, and implementing mitigation measures, report any suspected fraud, bribery, or corruption immediately, declare conflicts of interest in accordance with internal procedures and complete mandatory training related to ethics and anti-fraud measures.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The position holder is responsible for Coordinate and facilitate implementation of activities and prepare weekly movement plan to IYCF activities, Moreover, He/she will Monitor implementation of CMAM  program quality and Facilitate training and work closely with Woreda Health staffs at Health posts, Health center and district level.

In addition, the position holder is also expected to provide consistent and high-quality technical support in integrating into other Nutrition and IYCF components.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Role Dimensions

: Save the Children works in 9 regions in Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately 1,800 staff and current expenditure of approximately $90+ million each year.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Manages the project unit’s implementation of nutrition program in agreement with the overall IYCF Program activities according to SCI and national standards.

Makes sure that IYCF program is implemented according to the National protocol i.e. application of the admission and discharge criteria, closely monitors and strictly follows anthropometry measurement

Facilitates the trainings under the project regarding IYCF

Supports and liaise with the health centre staff and provide on the job training and capacity building.

Select and establish counsellors from the health facilities and the community.

Establishment and strengthening of MTM support groups, train them and close follow up for supporting IYCF_E promotion activities.

Asses and diagnose for difficulties of feeding for all PLW coming for other services, for screening and at the community.

Provide day to day one to one and group counselling for PLW regarding IYCF practices.

Makes sure that the health staff have adequate training on providing proper IYCF counselling

Conduct formative assessment for key behaviours and skill for IYCF and develop culturally appropriate and effective IEC materials and adopt it to the day to day counselling.

Ensures the availability of job aids, reporting formats and all other supplies for IYCF.

Creates and maintain relationship with local health and other authorities and try to link IYCF program with the existing health structure smoothly,

Makes sure that health professionals from the health facilities to participate on the daily routine work for sustainability and smooth phase out strategy,

Provides technical support and training where required to all team members, outreach team including health extension workers and community volunteers,

Works and liaise with any local health workers to integrate the IYCF program from the start,

Organizes monthly report of community mobilization, IYCF and report on time to the Project Manager, Nutrition and provides updates when needed.

Reports any problems in a timely manner to the Health& Nutrition Manager,

Coaches and supervises the CMAM officer, OTP/SC Nurses, Mobile health and nutrition team for integrating IYCF practice promotion activities to their daily health and nutrition works.

Upholds the image and values of SC at all times,

Performs other related tasks as required and tasks assigned by the organization

Makes sure that health professionals from the health facilities to participate on the daily routine work for sustainability and smooth phase out strategy,

Provides technical support and training where required to all team members, outreach team including health extension workers and community volunteers,

Works and liaise with any local health workers to integrate the CMAM program from the start,

Plan and organise OTP/SFP at designated distribution sites in liaison with nutrition coordinator

Organizes monthly report of SC/OTP/SFP/Community mobilization and report on time to the Project coordinator, and provide updates when needed.

Coordinates the link of acute malnutrition cases with EOS/CBN/CHD/TSFP/PSNP and facilitates regular registration of Non-EOS beneficiaries and submits on monthly bases

Provides a monthly over view of drug items, SFP materials and wet ration stocks supplied to beneficiaries,

Manages the stock levels of therapeutic products, drugs and all other materials and alert the logistics in a timely manner as more materials are required.

Reports any problems in a timely manner to the project coordinator co-ordinator,

Coaches and supervises the SFP, OTP, SC program officer

Upholds the image and values of SC at all times,

Performs other related tasks as required,

Control and facilitate vehicle movement within the project area in the field

About You

BSc in Nursing, Human Nutrition/Food science and Nutrition, public Health and related Field.

Demonstrated skills in program planning, implementation and monitoring.

Demonstrated skills in peer group training, Training of Trainers and development of training materials.

Proficiency in spoken and written English and Local language.

Strong computer (Microsoft skills), all and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

Minimum three years working experience for Degree out of which two-years’ experience directly related to emergency health & nutrition related fields Knowledge, training and experience in IMAM and community mobilization/BCC

Must have midwifery experience

Desirable

Position holders must have good interpersonal skills & excellent team player

Knowledge of the local language (Somali language) is asset and mandatory
