The Import Assistant is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all import operations to ensure the smooth, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods across international borders.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the entire process of importing goods, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and coordinating with customs authorities.
Managing import documentation is crucial for smooth customs clearance and timely delivery.
Manage customs broker relationships, take end-to-end ownership of clearance operations, and improve clearance efficiency through standardized processes.
Ensuring all imports comply with customs laws, trade regulations, and import licensing.
Monitor shipment schedules and tracks imports to ensure timely delivery and inventory management.
Accurate management of import documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs declarations, is essential.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
Experience: 0–3 years in import or logistics operations
Knowledge:
Import documentation (commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin)
Letters of credit and trade finance basics
Landed cost calculation and foreign exchange awareness
Freight and shipping operations (sea, air, road)
Supply chain and procurement processes
Import compliance and regulatory requirements
International trade agreements and restricted goods regulations
Microsoft Office proficiency
