Job Summary
The Head of People & Performance is responsible for leading the company''s people strategy, ensuring the organization attracts, develops, retains, and motivates exceptional talent while driving a high-performance culture.
The role oversees the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, people operations, performance management, employee relations, training and development, succession planning, organizational development, policy implementation, rewards and recognition, and culture building. The successful candidate will ensure that the company''s people practices directly support business growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
Lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes.
Build a strong employer brand.
Develop workforce plans aligned with business growth.
Reduce hiring turnaround time while maintaining quality.
People Operations
Oversee employee records and HR documentation.
Ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies.
Supervise attendance, leave administration, confirmations, transfers, promotions, and exits.
Coordinate payroll inputs with the Finance department.
Maintain accurate HR reports and employee data.
Performance Management
Design and manage the company''s performance management framework.
Develop KPIs and performance scorecards across departments.
Conduct performance reviews and performance improvement plans.
Coach managers on effective performance management.
Monitor productivity and organizational effectiveness.
Learning & Development
Identify training needs across the organization.
Design and implement annual training calendars.
Coordinate onboarding and induction programmes.
Develop leadership development initiatives.
Measure training effectiveness and ROI.
Promote continuous learning across all departments.
Employee Relations & Engagement
Foster a positive workplace culture.
Resolve employee grievances fairly and professionally.
Conduct disciplinary processes where necessary.
Lead employee engagement initiatives.
Promote communication between management and employees.
Organizational Development
Improve organizational structure and workforce efficiency.
Develop career progression frameworks.
Lead succession planning initiatives.
Drive organizational change and transformation projects.
Support business expansion through effective people strategies.
Rewards & Recognition
Design employee recognition programmes.
Recommend compensation reviews based on performance.
Develop incentive and reward frameworks.
Improve employee retention through engagement initiatives.
HR Policies & Compliance
Develop and update HR policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour regulations.
Conduct HR audits and policy reviews.
Maintain confidentiality of employee information.
Ensure consistent policy enforcement across the organization.
Leadership
Lead and mentor the People & Performance team.
Build a culture of accountability and excellence.
Provide strategic HR advice to senior management.
Prepare monthly HR and performance reports.
Partner with department heads to achieve business objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor''s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
Master''s degree or MBA is an added advantage.
Professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM, HRCI, or CIPD) is highly desirable.
Minimum of 7 years'' progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Experience in the hospitality, retail, FMCG, or Quick Service Restaurant industry is an advantage.
