Position Summary
The General Foreman will play a vital role in supervising and coordinating building construction activities. This position requires a technically skilled and detail-oriented professional who can effectively manage site operations, ensure quality standards, and maintain compliance with safety regulations. The role involves planning, scheduling, and overseeing daily construction tasks while supporting engineers and project managers in delivering successful projects.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, assign, and supervise construction, maintenance, alteration, and repair works involving buildings and equipment.
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules to ensure proper execution of work.
Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities to ensure tasks are completed on time and according to established quality standards.
Monitor the use of materials, tools, and equipment to prevent misuse and ensure proper handling.
Oversee site activities, including masonry, carpentry, formwork, concrete works, and finishing tasks.
Ensure the proper maintenance of tools, equipment, and temporary site structures.
Inspect completed work to verify quality and compliance with project specifications.
Coordinate with engineers and project managers regarding work progress, resource requirements, and site-related issues.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized construction site.
Ensure that rework and corrective activities are carried out as instructed by engineers.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
Diploma or TVET Level IV qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
Experience
At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in building construction.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of construction processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Ability to lead construction teams, assign tasks, and coordinate daily site activities effectively.
Good understanding of construction drawings, technical specifications, and work schedules.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address site-related challenges.
Good communication and coordination skills when working with engineers, project managers, and construction workers.
High ethical standards and a strong commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
