Job Summary
The Finance Manager will be responsible for leading financial planning, accounting, costing, cash-flow management, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. The role will provide financial analysis and business insights to support management decision-making while working closely with Production, Procurement, Sales, and other departments to improve cost control, profitability, working-capital management, and overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management, including maintaining a reliable rolling cash-flow forecast.
Monitor cash requirements for materials, payroll, suppliers, and other operating commitments and identify potential funding gaps early.
Oversee manufacturing costing and product profitability, covering materials, labor, energy, packaging, and overhead costs.
Analyze actual production costs against standards and identify the financial impact of waste, rejects, overtime, downtime, and underutilized capacity.
Provide financial analysis to support pricing, purchasing, investment, expansion, and other management decisions.
Oversee accurate accounting records, timely month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations, and preparation of management financial reports.
Monitor accounts receivable, collections, supplier balances, working capital, and customer credit exposure.
Coordinate inventory accounting and physical stock counts for raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods, and investigate significant discrepancies.
Establish and strengthen practical internal controls covering purchasing, payments, cash, payroll, inventory, and company assets.
Ensure compliance with applicable Ethiopian tax, payroll, pension, statutory reporting, and accounting requirements.
Coordinate external audits and follow up on audit findings and corrective actions.
Lead, coach, and monitor the performance of the finance team and strengthen finance processes, systems, and reporting.
Work closely with Production, Procurement, Sales, and other departments to improve cost control, profitability, cash management, and operational decision-making.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 5 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, including 2 years in a finance leadership or supervisory role.
Proven experience in manufacturing costing, inventory accounting, cash-flow forecasting, and management reporting.
Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax administration, payroll, pension, statutory reporting, and audit processes.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software.
Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, working-capital management, and internal controls.
Experience in FMCG, personal care, hygiene products, baby diapers, medical supplies, or businesses using imported raw materials is preferred.
Professional accounting qualifications or a relevant postgraduate degree are an advantage.
