Job Description

Field Assistants are the flexible, reliable extra hands behind everything GRENCHI does in the field.

On a given day, that might mean nursery and planting work, setting up and supporting a community training or workshop, assisting a monitoring visit or helping run a large event such as our Climate Bootcamp.

Field Assistants are assigned day to day by whichever field officer is leading that activity.

They will take direction and instruction from that officer for the duration of the task. No prior formal experience is required.

Reliability, physical stamina and willingness to turn your hand to whatever the day''s work needs matter most.

Key Duties and Responsibility:

Provide hands-on general field support for whichever GRENCHI field activity you are assigned to on a given day.

Assist with potting, watering, weeding, site preparation, planting and fill field record sheets when assigned to restoration or agroforestry activities.

Help set up and break down venues for community trainings, workshops and events.

Support registration, materials distribution and attendee flow on event days.

Assist field officers during monitoring visits by carrying equipment, help record basic information and support site access.

Carry and move seedlings, tools, equipment and event or training materials

Take clear direction from the field officer supervising the day''s activity and follow all safety instructions given on-site.

Show up as scheduled and ready to work

Qualification required:

At least, you must hold a Senior Secondary School Certificate (WAEC, NECO).

Additional certification or training in any field will be an added advantage.

Experience and Ideal Requirement

Minimum age of 18 years old

No prior experience is required. Instruction will be given on-site by whichever field officer is leading the activity.

Physically fit and able to carry out sustained outdoor work.

Flexible and willing to work across different types of field activities, not limited to a single programme area.

Resident in Awka with a genuine willingness to work regularly.

Able to follow instructions carefully and work well as part of a team, taking direction

from different officers as assignments change.

Reliable and punctual, with respect for GRENCHI''s tools, materials and equipment.

Willingness to learn and grow
