Dannyrose British Montessori Academy (DBMA) is seeking a skilled and innovative
Computer Studies & Coding Teacher
to join our academic team.
We are looking for an educator who can take students beyond basic computer appreciation and introduce them to
digital literacy, computational thinking, coding, problem-solving and practical technology projects
.
The successful candidate should be comfortable teaching technology through hands-on activities and helping students develop skills relevant to today''s digital world.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver practical Computer Studies and ICT lessons.
Teach students digital literacy and responsible use of technology.
Introduce students to coding and computational thinking.
Teach age-appropriate programming using tools and languages such as
Scratch, Python, HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript
.
Teach productivity applications such as Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
Develop practical coding, technology and digital projects for students.
Help students develop logical thinking, creativity and technology-based problem-solving skills.
Integrate technology into project-based and STEM learning where appropriate.
Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials and practical activities.
Assess students'' progress and maintain appropriate academic records.
Maintain an organised and safe computer-learning environment.
Support appropriate educational technology initiatives within the school.
Participate in staff training and continuous professional development.
Requirements
Bachelor''s Degree, HND, NCE or relevant qualification in Computer Science, Computer Education, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
Strong practical computer skills.
Good understanding of Computer Studies and digital literacy.
Knowledge of at least one coding/programming environment or language.
Familiarity with
Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS and/or JavaScript
is an advantage.
Ability to use Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace effectively.
Good communication and classroom management skills.
Ability to simplify technical concepts for children.
Previous teaching experience is an advantage.
Passion for technology, innovation and continuous learning.
Practical Assessment
Shortlisted candidates should be prepared to complete a
practical skills demonstration and/or short teaching demonstration
during the recruitment process.
