Job Summary
The Compliance Officer will be responsible for monitoring the organization's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, procedures, and management decisions. The role involves reviewing policies and operational practices, identifying compliance risks, assessing internal controls, and recommending corrective actions to ensure adherence to Ethiopian laws and regulatory requirements, particularly those relevant to insurance brokerage and financial services.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized university. This is a mandatory requirement.
Experience
At least two (2) years of relevant experience in compliance monitoring, legal affairs, regulatory compliance, internal control, corporate governance, or policy implementation.
Practical experience reviewing organizational policies, manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and management decisions, and assessing their implementation.
Knowledge of applicable Ethiopian laws and the regulatory environment relevant to insurance brokerage and financial services, including National Bank of Ethiopia directives.
Strong analytical, inspection, documentation, and report-writing skills, with the ability to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
High integrity, professional judgment, objectivity, confidentiality, and effective communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated business environment.
Relevant professional training or certification in compliance, risk management, internal control, or auditing.
