Job Description

This Officer will serve as GRENCHI’s primary link to all our partners including but not limited to the communities, schools, farmer groups, government, CSOs and traditional leadership structures.

This role is people-facing, meaning, it is about entry, trust, mobilization, policy and follow-through at community and state level institutions.

The right person will spend real time in communities, listens well, turn goodwill into consistent participation, gather community evidence and testimonies, build credible advocacy and carry policy issues back into the communities.

He/She will work alongside the Field Operations & Restoration Officer and Communications and Media Officer.

Key Duties and Responsibility:

Build and maintain trusted relationships with all of GRENCHI’s partners.

Organize community turnout for planting exercises, trainings, workshops, governance and events as each project demands.

Lead stakeholder engagement

Serve as the first point of contact for community questions, concerns or complaints about

GRENCHI activities and escalate issues appropriately.

Coordinate with sub-nationals, ministries, local government officials, institutions and community-based organizations to secure buy-in and smooth project implementation.

Work alongside the programme teams during field activities and monitoring exercises.

Conduct community-level surveys, needs assessments and satisfaction check-ins and maintain accurate records of engagement activities and attendance.

Support the planning and on-the-ground running of programmes.

Ensure grassroots advocacy activity is aligned with GRENCHI''s overall objectives and strategic priorities.

Any other responsibilities assigned to the candidate by the Executive Director as required

Qualification required:

BSc or MSc in Forestry, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Public Administration, Development Studies or a related field.

Additional certification in this field will be an added advantage.

Experience and Ideal Requirement

A minimum of 2 - 4 years hands-on experience in community mobilization, outreach or field extension work

Fluency in Igbo and English is required

Working understanding of Nigeria''s environmental and climate policy landscape and of local government structures in Anambra State.

Excellent facilitation, public speaking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to move comfortably between grassroots and institutional settings.

Excellent organisational, problem-solving and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong report writing skills.
