The Bursar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.
By virtue of this position, the Bursar should be able to co-ordinate the development and upgrading of the University''s strategic plans and to ensure the development: development and update of the University''s financial management plans.
The Bursar should also be able to co-ordinate the preparation of periodic uncome and expenditure, balance sheet and cash flow estimates and consolidation where necessary.
The holder of the office shall ensure that accurate records are maintained of all assets and liabilities held by the University and be able to monitor monthly income and expenditure and balance sheet variances against the budgets, among other schedules.
The Bursar should provide the University Management and the Governing Council with appropriate advice on all the institution''s financial transactions while ensuring compliance
Requirements
The candidate must possess the following qualifications/skills:
Possess a good honours degree in Accounting (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) from a recognized institution,
Have minimum of fifteen (15) years relevant post-qualification experience in the University system;
Have at least live (5) years experience as a Deputy Bursar in a recognized University:
Possess professional qualification of ICAN/ACA/ACMAJANAN
Possess certification in Information, Communication Technology and can proficiently use relevant accounting software:
Have national and international exposure through trainings and workshops;
Show strong evidence of managerial skill and leadership in financial management and potential to develop sustainable pathways for revenue generation,
Be not more than 60 years old by January 27, 2027.
Tenure and Conditions of Service
The Bursar shall hold office on such terms and conditions as specified in the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun Establishment Act 2023 and the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1993, as amended, and as applicable to Nigerian Federal Universities, as may be determined by the Federal Government from time to time.
