Job Summary
The
BAF Program Accountant
manages day-to-day financial operations, accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting for the Blue Ambition Fund program. Operating from Addis Ababa, the role ensures that all financial transactions comply with TWA''s organizational policies, donor requirements, and statutory regulations while supporting audit readiness and fiscal transparency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping:
Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date accounting records for the BAF Program and TWA Finance.
Transaction & Payment Processing:
Prepare and process payments, payment vouchers, journal entries, and financial transactions with valid supporting documentation.
Budget Monitoring & Reporting:
Monitor program expenditures against approved budgets, report utilization/variances, and prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and donor financial reports.
Banking & Cash Management:
Maintain proper cash/bank records, conduct regular bank reconciliations, and ensure timely settlement of staff advances, receivables, and payables.
Compliance & Audit Readiness:
Maintain organized financial filing systems, support internal/external audits, and ensure all transactions strictly align with statutory regulations, tax obligations, and TWA/donor policies.
Financial Decision Support:
Assist the program team with budget planning, forecasting, expenditure analysis, and financial decision-making.
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (
Master''s degree preferred
).
Experience
Bachelor’s Degree holders:
Minimum of
7 years
of relevant professional experience.
Master’s Degree holders:
Minimum of
5 years
of relevant professional experience.
Requirement:
Proven financial management and administration experience within local or international NGOs.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Knowledge:
Strong expertise in NGO financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, and statutory compliance.
Software Proficiency:
Proficient in financial accounting software and MS Office applications (especially Advanced Excel).
