Job Summary
The Assistant Chef supports the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, assisting with cooking, maintaining kitchen hygiene, ensuring food quality, and following established food safety and preparation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and organize ingredients for cooking.
Assist the Head Chef with food preparation and cooking.
Follow standardized recipes, portion sizes, and preparation procedures.
Monitor food quality, taste, freshness, and presentation.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
Properly store food and ensure items are labelled and appropriately preserved.
Assist with receiving, checking, and monitoring kitchen inventory.
Report low stock, expired, damaged, or spoiled food items.
Clean and properly maintain kitchen equipment and utensils.
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
Assist in ensuring guest food orders are prepared accurately and on time.
Support the Head Chef and other kitchen staff during busy periods.
Qualifications & Experience
Culinary training or certification is preferred.
1–3 years'' relevant kitchen or culinary experience.
Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, hospitality, or serviced-apartment environment is an advantage.
