Job Summary
NAJEC FMCG Limited is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Accountant
to manage the company''s financial records, cash and bank operations, receivables, inventory accounting, statutory compliance, payroll, and financial reporting across the company''s branches.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening financial controls, preventing revenue leakage, and providing reliable financial information to support management decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, and payments.
Manage the general ledger, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and month-end adjustments.
Reconcile supplier/principal and bank accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Manage customer accounts, credit sales, receivables, and overdue payments.
Prepare daily cash position reports and conduct regular bank reconciliations.
Supervise cash handling and ensure proper banking of company takings.
Maintain and reconcile inventory records with physical stock.
Investigate stock variances, damages, expiries, and shortages.
Prepare and remit statutory obligations including
VAT, WHT, PAYE, Pension, NSITF, and ITF
.
Prepare monthly payroll and reconcile payroll with HR and attendance records.
Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, budgets, and cash-flow forecasts.
Support year-end accounts and statutory audits.
Enforce financial controls and work with Internal Control to prevent fraud, leakage, and revenue loss.
Requirements
B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience
, preferably within FMCG, distribution, wholesale, or trading.
Good knowledge of Nigerian tax and statutory obligations (VAT, WHT, PAYE, pension, NSITF, ITF).
Proficiency in accounting software such as
QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms
.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Part or full professional qualification such as
ICAN/ACCA
, or actively pursuing one.
Experience with FMCG principal/supplier account reconciliation.
Experience managing high-volume cash operations.
Familiarity with e-commerce settlement/reconciliation and inventory management systems.
