Job Summary
The National Emergency Coordinator is responsible for the emergency responses in Somalia together with the National Director, PD Director, Safety & Security Advisor and Area Managers. The NEC also defines the operational emergency strategy in collaboration with the GER Unit including the development of a national emergency framework. The NEC develops and effectively implements the emergency programs in Somalia, according to the organization?s policies and according to international and national laws and regulations. The NEC represents and defends the organization?s interests towards third parties (government, NGOs, donors). In addition, the incumbent effectively identifies, mobilizes funds and also properly plans and coordinates all resources (human, material and financial) for the emergency interventions in Somalia.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Emergency Preparedness & Response - EPREP
Steers the development of Emergency Preparedness & Response (EPREP Plans) for MA Somalia and ensure alignment of existing Emergency Response policy.
Update and revise SOS Somalia?s Standard Operating Procedures for Emergency Preparedness & Response
Prepares and manage the budget of the National Emergency Preparedness and Response EPREP Plans for the MA
Ensures implementation of quality standards as described in guidelines, policies and regulations for all emergency and health programs.
Regularly monitor and analyze the environmental, political, humanitarian and general situation across the country and identify potential emergency threats to our programmes.
Prepare and submit regular updates to IOR & GER on the emergency situation of Somalia including Monthly situation report
