Basic Foundation International School (BFIS)
is expanding! We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and certified
Physics Teacher
to inspire our SSS students, foster critical thinking, and drive excellence in internal and external examinations, and competitions.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, tech-integrated Physics lessons aligned with the NERDC curriculum, WASSCE, and NECO syllabi at a minimum.
Conduct weekly laboratory experiments, teaching students proper apparatus setup, reading accuracy, and WAEC/NECO practical report writing.
Design, administer, and grade weekly tests, assignments, and termly examinations to track student progress objectively. Update and track all assessments and results online/offline.
Lead intensive past-question drills and continuous assessments (CA) targeting
JAMB (UTME), WAEC, and NECO
problem-solving.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of lesson notes, plans and schemes of work.
Actively support or lead science clubs (e.g., JETS Club) and coordinate student participation in local or national science quizzes, debates, and exhibitions.
Maintain accurate online/offline academic and attendance records for students, provide constructive feedback during PTA meetings and Parent open days, and offer remedial help to diverse learners.
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching, learning, and the overall student experience.
Incorporate real-world engineering and technology concepts into physics lessons to show students the practical applications of topics like electricity, mechanics, and electronics.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
B.Sc.Ed / B.Ed in Physics, OR a B.Sc. / B.Eng in Physics/Engineering with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
Certification:
Registration with the
TRCN
is a strong advantage.
Experience
Minimum of
4 years
of active SSS classroom teaching with a proven track record of excellent WAEC/NECO results.
Added Advantages:
Being an active
WAEC/NECO examiner
or having experience teaching the
British Curriculum
.
Core Competencies
Deep mastery of SSS Physics topics (Mechanics, Waves, Thermal Energy, Electricity, Magnetism, and Atomic Physics) and strong mathematical proficiency.
Exceptional English communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital interactive smartboards or projectors for visual representations of physics concepts.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills, with a patient and motivating approach to teach young minds.
