Requirnment About CECOE In view of the post 2018 reforms in Ethiopia’s CSO sector and the 2021 elections, several Ethiopian CSOs recognized the need for forming a coalition of CSOs to support the electoral process and coordinate CSOs engagement in the process. Consequently, CSOs that participated in a consultative workshop along with NEBE, Agency for Civil Society Organizations, and other government agencies, decided on May 20, 2019 to establish the Coalition of Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations for Elections –CECOE. Driven by its desire to serve in the prevention, mitigation and management of election-related conflicts and potential violence in the run up to, and following the election, CECOE works in all regions and city administrations to enhance the institutional capacity that enables member organizations to engage in voters and civic education and election monitoring and observations. Currently, the CECOE comprises over 175 civil society organizations across Ethiopia formed to support and promote inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability in Ethiopia’s elections through non-partisan citizen observation. Since its establishment in 2019, CECOE has been implementing several projects related to elections in Ethiopia. One of the major projects CECOE implemented in the area of elections is the comprehensive citizens election observation which aimed at observing the 6th national elections. During the Sixth National and Regional Elections of Ethiopia, the CECOE recruited and deployed over three thousand long-term and short-term observers in nine regional states and two city administrations.  Consequently, the observation report of the coalition is published and made available online and in print format in Amharic and English languages. In a bid to broaden the reach of the report, CECOE has intended to avail its finding reports in more three local languages, namely: Affan Oromo, Af Somali and Afar.  Job description CECOE is seeking to employ short-term Copy Editors to undertake the copy-editing of the election observation reports in the aforementioned three languages. The editors will copy-edit the drafts in reference to the base Amharic document; and will also take full responsibilities for misinterpretation of contents in the copy-edited drafts. The selected candidates are expected to copy-edit under the current vacancy within 12 working days following her/his selection to the position. The Coalition will provide office space, should it be necessary. However, this is a remote assignment that does not require physical presence in the office. Reports to: Election Observation CoordinatorDuration: 12 Working Days Number: One for each languageEducation and Previous Experience Applicants must hold Bachelor Degree in Journalism, Literature, Law, Political Science or any other related discipline with at least 3 years of relevant experience or Master’s Degree in the above disciplines with at least 2 years of experience in Editing and proof-reading. Language and Skills Proficiency in written and oral (in one of) Afan Oromo, Af Somali and Afar languages are necessaryFamiliarity with academic reference styles such as OSCOLA and Harvard is necessaryAbility to complete tasks on time and team work
